Contempo Real Estate has always been in the business of selling “dream lifestyles” and making that dream a reality. Donald Wherret, Chairman of the Contempo Group of Companies
Don graduated from Grimsby Technical College. He commenced his career as a manager of a national shoe company in the UK at age 18, in the first year becoming its number one manager in terms of individual branch growth, and then becoming the director of Ross Frozen Foods Vegetable Division (Peter Cocks Ltd.) at the age of 21. Don moved from Ross into the tourism field, buying a franchise with Rentavilla Ltd. involved in Spain.
He then joined Cosmos Holidays/Globus directing overseas operations, including area managers and all staff working in the worldwide resorts where Cosmos were involved. He later became responsible for the finances of specific resorts in the group, including the operations for the western half of the US, encompassing hotel contracting and working closely with various airline companies. In 1977, Don purchased Contempo in Los Angeles as the sole owner, handling various celebrities’ travel arrangements (including Bob Hope) and making Contempo the number one seller of vacations with Cosmos Europe and the first to advertise and sell inclusive holiday packages to Europe. Don incorporated in Florida in 1990 where he was joined by current friend and partner Gary Leventhal.
Don was the first to create and introduce a short-term rental industry to Central Florida and is the founder president of the Central Florida Property Managers Association, now called the Central Florida Vacation Rental Managers Association.
Entrepreneurial by nature, Don has continually created new concepts in the management and vacation home rental industry and, together with Gary Leventhal and Ian Pardoe, has increased the size of the group to become a major company in the vacation rental homes marketplace.
Don is married to Yvonne and has enjoyed golf, swimming and soccer throughout his life.

Gary Peter Leventhal, President of the Contempo Group of Companies
A graduate of Weymouth College of Education and Southampton University, UK (1977) and a former Head of Physical Education school teacher, Gary is a Founder/Partner of the Contempo Group together with local friend Don Wherrett.
Presently, Gary is the President of Contempo Real Estate Inc.,
a vacation and investment home specialist, and is this company’s main Broker. Gary heads up all real estate related matters from land acquisition and development to home sales, international sales, and marketing. Additionally, Gary has helped develop the EB-5 Visa Agency side of the business.
Married to Margaret with two sons, Reeve and Jordan, the family has called Florida home for the past 20 years and are now US Citizens.
Gary enjoys tennis, snow skiing, travel, wine collecting, watching rugby football, and socializing with friends when not working.
Dr. Ian Pardoe, B.D.S., Vice President of the Contempo Group of Companies
Ian Pardoe was born in the UK in 1962 and graduated from Cardiff University, Wales in 1984. He was elected Student President in 1983, displaying people and business talents that would become useful in his professional career.
Ian ran a successful private dental practice in the UK for seventeen years. During which time he was chairman of the West Dorset Independent Practitioners Association for three years.
Ian was approached by Don Wherrett and Gary Leventhal in 2003 to join them as a third partner in the company and utilize his business and people skills to aidg the growth of Contempo.
Ian moved to Florida in 2003 where he ran the property management and vacation side of the business for 8 years.
During this time he was responsible for building a successful enthusiastic team and more than doubling the size of the property management company.
Presently Ian is President of Contempo Property Management LLC and heads up the franchise division of the company as it continues to grow.
He credits his business success to a number of factors: ensuring he employs the most talented people, the support of his family, sharing his vision, and his ability to adapt to the ever changing business environment.
Ian is a member of the Central Florida Vacation Rental Management Association and was the president of this organization in 2009.
Married to Sarah for twenty-five years with 2 children, Rhys and Amelia, the family has called Florida home for the past 11 years and are now US Citizens.
When not working, he enjoys golf, tennis, swimming, snow skiing, and spending time with his family.
